Overview
Our relationship with The Galleria in Ft. Lauderdale dates back to 1982 when it was first developed by Leonard L. Farber, Inc. Since then, we’ve completed several renovation projects to keep the mall relevant for today’s retailers and shoppers.
One of our the largest projects for The Galleria involved transforming the 80’s architecture of the former Saks Fifth Avenue building into a contemporary retail space and office center. The former Saks space was divided into a bi-level H&M store and Regus Office Center. This required the installation of new elevator and escalator systems. The biggest challenge was opening up the two large exterior walls on the north and east end of the mall to accommodate window glazing structures without flooding the businesses still in operation throughout construction.
In addition, we were built the first Powerhouse Gym inside the Galleria Mall. This 22,000 square foot tenant improvement project featured personal and group training areas, and dedicated fitness classrooms. The gym’s iconic 100-foot glass window offers breathtaking views of the Intracoastal Waterways and added to the mall’s modern exterior aesthetic.
In addition to these projects, we also completed a renovation of the mall’s public restrooms, painting the interior of the mall, and various improvements to the east end of the building, such as interior finishes to expand the common areas to the new storefronts in that section.
