Overview
Built in 1936, the historic Edgewater Hotel was one of the most iconic properties in Miami’s South Beach Art Deco District. Marriott bought the coveted beachfront hotel located at 1410 Ocean Drive, and hired GSD to renovate and convert it to a Marriott Vacation Club Pulse.
This project involved a complete renovation of this Mediterranean Revival gem including its historic exterior. The GSD hotel construction team updated the famed hotel with a landmark red tile roof, graceful columns in the hotel lobby, refurnished all 49 studios and suites with a chic, marine-inspired decor, and common areas.
GSD installed modern amenities including a rooftop terrace with sundeck and panoramic views, a South Beach style restaurant, elevator, parking and facilities for disabled guests.
In addition to the hotel renovation, GSD also conducted a tenant improvement of the hotel’s 7,200 square foot off-site sales center. The office building is located about a block away from the hotel and manages the timeshares. The sales center renovation incorporated sleek, modern lines with the light and airy feel of the beach.
The Marriott project represents one of many renowned global and boutique hoteliers that entrust GSD Contracting to provide a variety of new construction and renovation services.
