Overview
Senior care exists on a spectrum, and independent living (IL) is one of the least restrictive residential options available. One step above IL is assisted living facilities (ALF). ALF is geared more towards helping aging adults who need some assistance with daily life activities such as bathing, dressing, doing laundry and taking medications. A Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) provides the best of both. It’s a type of facility that allows residents to transition from independent living to assisted living all within the community.
Emerald Park Retirement is located at 5770 Stirling Road in Hollywood, FL. GSD was brought in to transform the facility from IL to a full CCRC. The project involved adding new ALF residential care facilities that provide housing, meals, personal care, medical and support services.
In addition, GSD was tasked with building new Memory Care residential units and accommodations to allow for the full-time care of residents suffering from Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia. It’s the little things that can make the biggest differences to residents and staff. From installation of specialty doors to improvements to indoor and outdoor activity spaces – the new additions and updates helped to promote a peaceful, productive and safe environment.
10,000 Baby Boomers are aging into the senior market every day. As the senior population rises in South Florida, there is a need for more independent living and ALF facilities. This Emerald Park Retirement project is just one example of how GSD Contracting is at the forefront of ALF construction and renovations.
