One of the most rewarding arenas we work in is education, building a variety of school buildings for students from pre-school through college. Every new industry we get involved in requires a learning curve on the unique specifications of that industry. Our recent projects in entertainment construction have proven that we are quick learners able to get up to speed on everything from movie theaters to interactive displays.

Our foray into movie theater construction began when Cinemark acquired four of the former Muvico Theatre properties and we were offered the opportunity to contract to refit many of the auditoriums to create the Cinemark XD experience. Doing so required unique scaffolding challenges as well as attention to noise containment and working hours. Our success in this relationship led directly to a contract to construct a new 12-screen, 50,000sf XD theatre experience in Lakeland, Florida at the Lakeland Square Mall. This is entertainment to the max, featuring ceiling-to-floor and wall-to-wall screen, custom sound and premium seating ensuring that every seat is an intense sensory experience. Our challenges were building high scaffolding over stadium seating in confined, spaces and attention to sightlines and placement of handrails and stadium seating.

Building a 12-screen theatre is comparable to building 12 projects in one, scheduling demands and sequencing become crucial to overall schedule success.

Another rewarding entertainment construction project we enjoyed was closer to home. At Wannado City, an entertainment complex at Sawgrass Mills Mall in suburban Fort Lauderdale, we were hired by Motorola to build M-Lab, an interactive underwater spaceship experience for kids.
